Don’t Look Back

You can’t make rules. Well, you can make them, but that doesn’t mean they will stand. So often after the fabrication of a standard do we see the exception.

For example, I have a screen which I use to print quotes onto garments. One of them says “Don’t look back, it’s not the direction you’re going.” True, sometimes, but not always. What are we but products of our experiences and environments? Aren’t we also told to ‘learn from our mistakes’ or history will repeat?

If I hadn’t looked back at the place where I was sitting to write my last post, I wouldn’t have noticed my wedding ring sitting where I’d dropped it after removing it for polishing. A woodpecker had startled me and I was distracted enough to forget about it. When you have a tendency toward distraction, you better look back and make sure you are bringing the correct things with you and leaving those that don’t serve behind. I guess that sentiment is too long for a bumper sticker though.
