Dumblebees

 

“This is it guys,” I warn as I staple the last bit of screen to the door. “Seriously, why do you climb all around that corner when you could take flight and be out of here in a few seconds?”

The hulking apian aviators refuse to acknowledge what is right in front of them. They quest and quest for a way out. Last week’s unsuccessful lie lifeless in a pile on the floorboards.

I pry the living off the mesh and fling them out only to find them attached to the screen porch walls the next day. They refuse to see the big picture; a ripped screen for escape is a foot away. What a bunch of dumblebees.
