Homestate Homage
There is no argument here. The design of this flag leaves all others behind. The colors of all four nations: red, white, black and yellow. Angular parallelograms complemented by organically-shaped figures.
It represents a state whose residents possess no clear accents other than metropolitan, suburban or rural. Boasting the diversity of both a global population and a variety of geographical features, it extends from mountains to piedmont to ocean. And, it has four distinct seasons of weather.
Its history is as old as the country, though maintaining neutrality throughout all the conflicts of the democracy.
At the risk of sounding trite, I must quote the song lyrics, ”Oh, Maryland my Maryland.”
