Kick the Log

I have been stepping over this log for years. Today was the day. It finally rotted enough for me to break it and roll it out of the trail. Being part of my path for so long, I forgot it would eventually change.

Always an obstacle, the downed tree waited at the bottom of the Spring trail forcing a quick left turn. When you cross-country ski, it’s not a bad idea to ski up the trail first. You can avert disaster, flicking the face-planting invites of fallen branches away, and pile snow on impediments.  In six inches of snow or more, the log became a nice jump with great consequences. I suppose I’ll fly through that section now.

I often forget roadblocks won’t always exist. Fogged up with self-pity,  I can’t see the blinders of negativity doing their job. You never know until you ‘kick the log’; whether it’s time to throw it off your path. Be sure you’re not wearing flip-flops.
